Private Ancient Trails keeps the soul of our signature hut-to-hut journey: old Highland routes, geothermal valleys, glacier views, remote huts, and Icelandic storytelling. The difference is that the guide, timing, pace, and logistics are built around your own group instead of a scheduled departure.
Day 1
Meet your private guide in Reykjavík and travel through classic Icelandic landscapes toward Kerlingarfjöll. The day can include Þingvellir, Geysir, farm lunch, or a more direct Highland approach depending on your pace and interests.
Day 2
Hike into Hveradalir, a geothermal valley of steam, mineral colors, rhyolite mountains, and shifting Highland weather. Later, transfer to Hveravellir for dinner and a geothermal soak.
Day 3
Follow the old Kjalvegur route between glaciers, lava, rivers, and open Highland space. Your guide can adjust the walking distance based on weather, visibility, and the group's energy.
Day 4
Walk beside old cairns and the edge of Kjalhraun lava, with Hrútfell and glacier scenery in view. The private format leaves room for longer photo stops and deeper storytelling along the route.
Day 5
Move toward Hvítárvatn through open country, springs, horse tracks, and the older mood of Highland travel. The folklore around Hvítárnes gives the final hut night a strong sense of place.
Day 6
Leave the Highlands with time for a final stop at Gullfoss and lunch before returning to Reykjavík. The exact finish can be shaped around onward travel plans.
