Er hat uns an eine Stelle weit ausserhalb gefahren und tolle Fotos mit uns vor den Nordlichtern gemacht! Leider hatte ich nicht eher Zeit eine Bewertung zu schreiben, mein Urlaub war im Februar 🙂‍↕️ Danke für dieses einmalige Erlebnis! ☺️

After two days in Reykjavik, we embarked on a six day guided hike through the Icelandic Highlands with Norse Adventures. I can't speak highly enough about how amazing a tour this was. Magnus and Thor were knowledgeable, personable, and extremely well-prepared. They expertly led us on the ancient Kjalvegur trail linking north and south Iceland between the glaciers, where for centuries people travelled by horse for trade and politics. By the end of the hike, our group bonded together and it felt like a trip with long-time friends. The hike itself wasn't particularly technical or physically demanding - as shown by the fact our group ranged in age from our son in his early 20s to a lady in her mid-70s. Despite this, the breadth and variety of beautiful scenery made sure there was never a dull moment. On the first day, we drove in the modified off-road vehicle to Thingvellir National Park, home of Iceland's ancient parliament. After that, we stopped at Geysir before reaching our destination at Kerlingarfjoll Highland Base. Home to a modern, luxurious hotel and cabins (as well as our more rustic but spacious hut), Kerlingarfjoll serves as base camp for a number of beautiful trails that can be enjoyed in all seasons. Our in-out hike on day 2 was the among the longest and most challenging (but rewarding) of the trip. After a relaxing stay among the many hot springs at Hveravellir, it was time to abandon the vehicle and head out into the wilderness. Our stay at Thjofadalir was perhaps my favorite, despite it being the smallest hut of the trip. Located in the Valley of Thieves, the weather was clear and warm enough for us to scale to the top of the nearby mountains to see panoramic views of the icefields beyond. This day was probably my highlight of the entire trip. The last two days saw us hike on to Thverbrekknamuli and onto Hvitarnes, following the path of one of the main rivers draining from the glaciers. On the final day, we packed back into the vehicle for a stop at the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall on the way back to Reykjavik. Despite the famously volatile Icelandic weather, this was really the only day where we were subjected to torrential rains. Fortunately we were inside the vehicle for most of the day, other than the stop at the waterfall. During the trip, we were extremely well fed, enjoying meals with some of my favorite foods like arctic char, lamb, and plenty of skyr. Our accommodations were very modest - rustic huts with few amenities but very warm and cozy. After each long day of hiking, our party slept very soundly after an evening's meal and games.
