A premium small-group Northern Lights hunt from Reykjavik by Supertruck, with an Icelandic storyteller guide, professional aurora photos, and homemade Icelandic hot chocolate.

This is not a standard bus chase. Your Norse guide studies cloud cover, solar activity, road conditions, wind, and local weather through the day, then chooses the route that gives the night its best chance. Along the way, the evening becomes a real Icelandic winter experience: stories of trolls, elves, Norse gods, Vikings, dark landscapes, melted chocolate in a pot, and professional photos when the aurora appears.

Highlights

  • Travel with an authentic Icelandic storyteller guide who brings the night alive with stories of trolls, elves, Norse gods, Vikings, weather, and winter travel.
  • The scheduled tour runs in a late-model Supertruck modified for 40-inch tires, giving safer winter grip and access to darker snowy side roads that buses and sprinters often cannot use.
  • Want the wilder private version? Ask for the private Super Jeep experience in our 44-inch Nissan Patrol with a 6.2L V8 engine, 500 horsepower, roaring sound, and a proper Icelandic mountain-truck presence.
  • Stay in a very small group with a maximum of 14 guests, instead of the 19+ passenger sprinter groups and large bus tours common around Reykjavik.
  • Warm up with homemade Icelandic hot chocolate made with love from an old Icelandic recipe, using real chocolate melted in a pot instead of a quick powder mix.
  • Receive high-quality aurora portraits from professional guides who use Sony A7 III cameras and Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lenses and have photographed Northern Lights guests for years.
  • Enjoy pickup from many Reykjavik locations, including door pickup when possible; if a hotel sits on a street where tourism traffic is restricted, we use the closest permitted pickup point.
  • If you do not see the Northern Lights, retry free of charge until you do, subject to availability and operating conditions.

Unlucky. KP5 and clear sky with nothing to see. So far the tour guide is good. Forecast is forecast.

Magnus was a great guide. He kept us entertained and informed while doing his best to find the perfect spot to view the Northern Lights. It was worth booking with a smaller group. The photos were good, and he made the best hot chocolate ever.

Our guide knew exactly where to go and how to find Northern Lights. We would not have been able to find them without his support. Many thanks to Bjarni.

We had updates from the guides from around 5pm about the weather conditions. We were collected from our hotel on time, and you could see the passion that goes into capturing a glimpse of the Northern Lights. They went above and beyond, with hot chocolate, snacks, smiles, and lots of Iceland knowledge.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from a normal Northern Lights bus tour?

This is a premium small-group scheduled tour by Supertruck, guided by an Icelandic storyteller. The group is limited to 14 guests, the route is chosen from live conditions, and the evening includes professional photos, homemade Icelandic hot chocolate, and local stories rather than a fixed bus stop.

Do you really use a Supertruck?

Yes. The scheduled tour uses a late-model Supertruck modified for 40-inch tires. We do not drive off-road, but the vehicle is better suited to snowy and icy winter access roads, darker side roads, windy conditions, and places larger buses or sprinters may not be able to reach safely.

Can I book the Super Jeep privately?

Yes. The private version can be arranged as a Super Jeep experience in our 44-inch Nissan Patrol with a 6.2L V8 engine, 500 horsepower, roaring sound, and a much more personal mountain-truck feel. Contact us if you want the private Super Jeep version instead of the scheduled Supertruck departure.

Is the hot chocolate homemade?

Yes. We make Icelandic hot chocolate with love from an old Icelandic recipe, using real chocolate melted in a pot. It is not a quick powder mix, and it is part of the winter atmosphere of the tour.

Do you take professional photos of guests?

Yes. Our guides are experienced Northern Lights photographers and use professional camera gear, including Sony A7 III cameras and Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lenses, to capture high-quality aurora portraits when conditions allow. Edited images are delivered digitally after the tour.

What happens if we do not see the Northern Lights?

If the lights do not appear, you can retry free of charge until you see them, subject to availability, road conditions, weather, and operating dates.

Will the tour run if the weather looks bad?

We monitor space weather, cloud cover, wind, precipitation, and road conditions throughout the day. If conditions are unsafe or clearly unsuitable, we postpone or cancel before pickup and you can rebook or receive a refund according to the policy.

Do you offer extra winter clothing?

Please arrive dressed for sub-zero wind chill with thermal layers, waterproof shells, gloves, a hat, and insulated boots. Blankets are provided on board, but clothing rental is not included.

What are the pickup and drop-off times?

Winter pickup times are usually in the evening and vary by season and darkness. We offer pickup from many Reykjavik locations, including door pickup when possible. Some downtown hotels sit on streets where tourism traffic is restricted, so those guests are picked up from the closest permitted pickup point. Expect to return about three to five hours after your pickup window.
