Premium Aurora Hunt
A premium small-group Northern Lights hunt from Reykjavik by Supertruck, with an Icelandic storyteller guide, professional aurora photos, and homemade Icelandic hot chocolate.
This is not a standard bus chase. Your Norse guide studies cloud cover, solar activity, road conditions, wind, and local weather through the day, then chooses the route that gives the night its best chance. Along the way, the evening becomes a real Icelandic winter experience: stories of trolls, elves, Norse gods, Vikings, dark landscapes, melted chocolate in a pot, and professional photos when the aurora appears.
The scheduled departure uses a late-model Supertruck modified for 40-inch tires. It is built for Icelandic winter roads, with better grip, stability, visibility, and access to darker snowy side roads than standard buses or sprinters can normally handle.
For private Northern Lights tours, the experience can be upgraded to our 44-inch Nissan Patrol with a 6.2L V8 engine, 500 horsepower, roaring sound, and the mountain-truck character people imagine when they hear Super Jeep in Iceland.
Before pickup
Your guide studies cloud movement, aurora activity, wind, precipitation, road conditions, and the best dark-sky options within reach of Reykjavik. The final route is chosen close to departure because the best Northern Lights decisions are made from the newest winter information.
Pickup
Meet your guide in Reykjavik and head out in the scheduled tour Supertruck. We do not drive off-road, but the vehicle gives the group more confidence on icy roads, snowy access routes, windy winter nights, and darker areas that are harder for larger vehicles to reach.
Dark-sky stop
Settle into the best available viewing area, warm up with homemade Icelandic hot chocolate made with love from an old Icelandic recipe, and give the sky time to work. Your guide tells Icelandic winter stories and prepares professional aurora portraits when the lights appear.
If needed
Some nights reward patience in one place; others require movement. If the cloud breaks shift, your guide can relocate the group to keep the evening focused on the best available conditions while staying within safe, legal winter routes.
Return
Return to the city after the hunt, usually three to five hours after departure. If the lights stay quiet, your guide explains what happened with the forecast and how to use your free retry according to availability and operating conditions.

Yes. The scheduled tour uses a late-model Supertruck modified for 40-inch tires. We do not drive off-road, but the vehicle is better suited to snowy and icy winter access roads, darker side roads, windy conditions, and places larger buses or sprinters may not be able to reach safely.
Yes. The private version can be arranged as a Super Jeep experience in our 44-inch Nissan Patrol with a 6.2L V8 engine, 500 horsepower, roaring sound, and a much more personal mountain-truck feel. Contact us if you want the private Super Jeep version instead of the scheduled Supertruck departure.
Yes. We make Icelandic hot chocolate with love from an old Icelandic recipe, using real chocolate melted in a pot. It is not a quick powder mix, and it is part of the winter atmosphere of the tour.
Yes. Our guides are experienced Northern Lights photographers and use professional camera gear, including Sony A7 III cameras and Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lenses, to capture high-quality aurora portraits when conditions allow. Edited images are delivered digitally after the tour.
If the lights do not appear, you can retry free of charge until you see them, subject to availability, road conditions, weather, and operating dates.
We monitor space weather, cloud cover, wind, precipitation, and road conditions throughout the day. If conditions are unsafe or clearly unsuitable, we postpone or cancel before pickup and you can rebook or receive a refund according to the policy.
Please arrive dressed for sub-zero wind chill with thermal layers, waterproof shells, gloves, a hat, and insulated boots. Blankets are provided on board, but clothing rental is not included.
Winter pickup times are usually in the evening and vary by season and darkness. We offer pickup from many Reykjavik locations, including door pickup when possible. Some downtown hotels sit on streets where tourism traffic is restricted, so those guests are picked up from the closest permitted pickup point. Expect to return about three to five hours after your pickup window.
